Leadership Transition Announced for Global Studio Operations
International Game Technology (IGT) has appointed Jamie Knight as its new chief studios officer, with the role taking effect on January 1, 2027. According to a company announcement issued on Monday, Knight will assume full responsibility for game design, content development, and studio operations across the combined IGT and Everi organization.
The appointment follows the retirement of Jean Venneman, who will leave the company on December 31. Venneman, who has more than 30 years of experience in the gaming industry, originally joined IGT in the early 1990s. She returned to the company in 2024 with a specific mandate to rebuild and expand the global studio operations division.
Responsibilities and Strategic Focus
In her new capacity, Knight will set priorities for IGT’s studio teams and oversee work related to game mechanics and mathematical modeling. The position places her at the center of the creative and technical processes that generate the content powering IGT’s casino and lottery products. IGT CEO Hector Fernandez cited Knight’s two decades of experience as a key factor in the selection, noting her background in creative development, studio leadership, and innovation in both game design and mathematics.
“We’ll push the boundaries of what’s possible in game design, content strategy, and math innovation,” Knight said in a statement accompanying the announcement. Her career began in a creative role, a foundation she will now apply to the broader operational scope of the company’s studio network.
Venneman’s Role in Rebuilding the Studio Network
Jean Venneman’s tenure at IGT has included senior positions spanning product development, licensing, technology, and operations. Upon her return in 2024, she focused on restructuring the studio division to support the company’s growth. Under her leadership, Venneman assembled a team of more than 1,200 employees, establishing a significant operational footprint for content production.
During her time in the role, Venneman introduced shared operating practices across IGT’s various studios. These initiatives were designed to standardize workflows and improve efficiency across the global team. Fernandez acknowledged these efforts in his announcement, stating that Venneman successfully brought the studio teams together and strengthened their overall operations.
“Jean’s leadership created the foundation for this next phase of growth,” Fernandez said. He emphasized that Knight will build upon the infrastructure and team structure established during Venneman’s tenure, ensuring continuity in the management of IGT’s global content pipeline.
Timeline and Operational Continuity
The transition is scheduled to be immediate, with Knight starting on January 1, 2027, the day after Venneman’s retirement date of December 31. This handover is designed to ensure seamless continuity in the management of the studio operations that are central to IGT’s product strategy. The combined IGT and Everi organization will continue to operate under this unified studio leadership structure as it moves into the new year.
Why It Matters
This leadership change directly impacts the development pipeline for the casino and lottery products that operators rely on. With a dedicated officer overseeing a 1,200-person team, IGT is signaling a continued investment in standardized content production across its IGT and Everi brands. The transition ensures that the operational structures built in 2024 remain in place, maintaining the flow of new game mechanics and mathematical models to the market.
