Bragg Gaming Names Morten Tonnesen Interim CEO

Morten Tonnesen Takes Over as Interim CEO

Morten Tonnesen has been appointed the interim chief executive officer of Bragg Gaming Group, effective November 6, 2026. The leadership change follows the announcement that Matevž Mazij, the founder of the iGaming content provider, is stepping down from the CEO role to serve as a strategic advisor with immediate effect.

Tonnesen, who previously served as Bragg Gaming’s chief operating officer, will assume responsibility for the company’s day-to-day operations. He reports directly to the board of directors. Tonnesen joined the Bragg Gaming team earlier this year, following the company’s acquisition of Drayton International, a multi-asset gaming technology and content platform.

Board Priorities: Execution and Financial Strength

Matt Davey, chairman of the Bragg Gaming board, outlined the strategic priorities for the next phase of the company’s development. Davey stated that the board is focused on disciplined execution, improving balance sheet strength, and enhancing operating cash flow. Additionally, the board aims to develop and deploy market-leading technology, content, and services.

“Morten has the operational experience to deliver against those tests, and the Board has full confidence in him,” Davey said. He noted that Mazij led Bragg Gaming through a challenging period and highlighted Mazij’s role in founding Oryx, a content provider that was merged into Bragg Gaming. As part of the transition, Mazij will provide guidance to the board and support key stakeholders.

Tonnesen’s Career in iGaming and Sports Betting

Tonnesen brings nearly two decades of leadership experience across business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) iGaming, sports betting, and technology sectors. He is the co-founder of BetWarrior, a mobile gaming technology provider. His career history includes a six-year tenure at PokerStars, where he held various leadership positions.

Before joining Bragg Gaming, Tonnesen served as the chief commercial officer of Shape Games and as the chief growth officer at Xtremepush. In a statement regarding his new role, Tonnesen outlined his priorities for the company. “My focus is execution, delivering for our operator partners and running a simpler and more focused business,” Tonnesen said. “I want to thank Matevž for his support through this transition and for what he has built.”

Context for the Leadership Transition

Bragg Gaming Group operates as an iGaming content provider with a diverse portfolio of gaming products. The company completed its acquisition of Drayton International earlier this year, expanding its technological and content capabilities. Bragg Gaming appointed a new chairman a few months prior to this leadership announcement, signaling a period of organizational restructuring.

The appointment of an interim CEO reflects the board’s strategy to stabilize operations while leveraging Tonnesen’s operational background. Mazij’s transition to strategic advisor ensures continuity in stakeholder relationships and institutional knowledge during the leadership change. The board’s emphasis on cash flow and execution suggests a focus on financial discipline as the company moves forward under new leadership.

Why It Matters

This leadership transition signals a shift in Bragg Gaming Group's strategic priorities toward financial discipline and operational execution. For operator partners and industry stakeholders, the appointment of Morten Tonnesen, with his extensive B2B and B2C experience, indicates a focus on stabilizing the business post-acquisition of Drayton International. The board's explicit mention of improving balance sheet strength and operating cash flow suggests that product development and market deployment will be aligned with stricter financial oversight in the coming months.
